Aurora White

Certified Veterinary Assistant

Hi, my name is Aurora White, and I am a Certified Veterinary Assistant at Dermatology Clinic for Animals. I am passionate about providing high-quality care and helping my patients feel comfortable and confident in their treatment.

Personal Hobbies and Interests

Outside of work, I hike and read a lot. I also volunteer yearly in other countries on high-volume spay and neuter missions for communities that do not have the funds or resources. At home I have three female cats — Aphrodite, Hera, and Andromeda — three male ball pythons — Ajax, Erebus, and Apollo — and some fish.

Favorite Part of My Job

My favourite part of this work is getting to see and care for all the wonderful pets, especially helping those who can be aggressive or fearful and are often misunderstood.

Why I Chose This Profession

I lost a childhood cat to Feline Leukemia, and that sparked my interest in caring for animals. After losing my childhood dog to old age one year into my career, my desire to remain in this field and care for animals was cemented.

Education

I attended Pima Medical Institute in 2022, where I received my certification in veterinary assisting. I am currently continuing my education with Penn Foster, which I began in 2024.

Professional Background

My main interests are surgery and anesthesia. I plan to become a licensed technician and earn my VTS in surgery, along with another in anesthesia and possibly a third in behavior.

Work History

I began my career at All Creatures Animal Hospital from 2022 to 2024 as an assistant, where I assisted in all types of appointments, dentals, and spays and neuters, and helped us become the second veterinary hospital in the US to unionize and create a contract for fair employment. From 2024 to early 2026, I worked as a Surgical Assistant at BluePearl in Tacoma, assisting in surgeries such as TPLOs, fractures, hemoabdomens, and pyothoraxes, and also working in the ER/ICU, Internal Medicine, Exotics, Radiology, and Oncology departments.
